With a great event promised, how could we go past this event. The car needs a bit of preparation, new plugs and leads before sending it off for a full tune!

2024 has seen a number of changes to the regulations requiring us to fit a fire bomb and our helmets are out of date. It time to upgrade those and the intercom. MotorSport Race Gear have been chosen as our supplier. We are looking at obtaining the following:

Arai GP-J3 SA2020 O/Face

Zero Noise Amp – Intrepid

coupled with

Zero Noise Helmet Kit – Open Face

and a

FireSense 4.0lt Steel Mechanical Fire System

In the week leading up to the rally Mick and Nigel worked feverishly to prepare the car for competition. As always if something can go wrong, it will!

First task was to get the six near new, but second hand never the less, Hoosier Tyres mounted and low and behold two had damaged sidewalls. I called Mitch from Hoosier and he dropped everything to remedy the situation, thus necessitating a trip from Campbelltown to Nelson to get them replaced.

Next it appeared that the new intercom was a dud, again we experienced excellent customer service with Tony from Motorsport Race Gear scrambling to get us a replacement. The replacement still didn’t work which was a good indicator that this was a user error, which it was.

Lastly I was sweating on receiving the Motorsport Australia form required o renew the Rally Registration. This arrived in Thursday’s mail meaning I had to attend Services NSW at Gregory Hills before being able to take the car for it’s wheel alignment!

With everything finally in place we set off for Coffs Harbour just after 1pm.
